Biography

Moe Kitamura

She was born in Kyoto, Japan, 1997 and grew up in Akashi. At the age of 12 he began studying percussion at her middle school band. From the age of 14, she studied marimba seriously with Master Keiko Miyamoto. Later, to further these studies, she attended the music course of Kobe Yamate Girls' High School, at which he also studied with Master Masayuki Koshikawa.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Doshisha Womenʼs University in 2019, under the guidance of Masters Mitsuru Nakatani and Yasuko Miyamoto.


She has been an active participant in concerts and music seminars in which she was chosen as a member of an ensemble formed for the purpose of a collaboration on the 30th anniversary of the partnership between Akashi (Japan) and Wuxi (China) and took part in a tour held in Wuxi in 2011;

participated in the Percussion Festival of West Japan from 2015 to 2019 (Osaka,Japan);

passed the audition for the "Biwako Music Harvest" seminar (for percussionists) and participated in the public academy and concert (Shiga, Japan) in 2017.

She has also won numerous competitions, including:

Kobe young artists Music Competition Excellent Performance Award (Kobe, Japan) in 2015;

3rd prize at the Osaka International Music Competition (Osaka, Japan) in 2017;

1st prize and a special prize at Sakai Wind and Percussion Competition (Osaka, Japan) in 2017;

2nd prize at the Choko [Yangtze River] Cup International Music Competition (Tokyo, Japan) in 2018;

2nd prize and a prize for best impression at the Tokyo International Marimba Competition (Tokyo, Japan) in 2018;

2nd prize (YAMAHA prize) at the West Japan Percussion young artists Music Competition, and on the recommendation of the organizers performed at the Japan Percussion young artists Music Competition (Osaka and Tokyo,Japan) in 2019;

was a finalist at the Italy International Percussion Competition (Pescara, Italy) in 2021.


She is currently attending the Master of Arts in Music Performance at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, under the guidance of professors Bernhard Wulff, Julian Belli, Lorenzo Malacrida,Kai Strobel and Rina Roccasalva.

And she also received  guidance from Fumito Nunoya.
